The tertiary sector of
industry, also called the service sector. It involves the provision of services to other businesses as well as
final consumers.
Services may involve:
- Healthcare: Doctors, nurses and dentists all work in the health sector.
- Education sector: Teachers work in education.
- Public safety: policemen fire fighters, soldiers and security guards…
- Skilled jobs: mechanics, electricians…
- Transport sector: Bus drivers, train drivers, taxi drivers, lorry drivers…
- Administration: such as bank clerks, secretaries, civil servants…
- Cultural professions: such as musicians, writers, actors and painters.
- Tourism: tour guides, receptionists, waiters…
- Judicial system: such as judges, lawyers, prosecutors…
- Retail is an area of the tertiary sector which sells products to consumers. People such as shop assistants and shop managers work in this area.
